Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information generated by your use of the platform, and information we receive from third-party services.
Information you provide
- Account information: Your name, email address, date of birth, phone number, and mailing address, collected when you create an account.
- Identity verification: Government-issued ID and other documentation required to open an investment account or comply with applicable know-your-customer (KYC) regulations.
- Payment information: Billing details for paid subscriptions. Payment card information is processed directly by Stripe, Inc. — we do not store your card number.
- Communications: Messages you send to us for support or enquiries.
Information generated by your use
- Learning activity: Lesson progress, quiz scores, completion status, and time spent on each lesson or track.
- AI coach interactions: Your conversations with the Soffia AI coach, including questions asked and responses delivered.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, session duration, device type, browser type, and IP address.
- Behavioural signals: Patterns of platform use that help the AI coach understand where you are in your learning journey, such as which lessons you revisit or how often you check your portfolio.
Information from third-party services
- Portfolio data (via Plaid): If you choose to connect an existing brokerage account, Plaid Technologies, Inc. retrieves your holdings, balances, and transaction history from that institution on your behalf. You authorise this connection and can revoke it at any time.
- Investment account data (via Altruist): If you open an investment account through the platform, Altruist Corp shares account information — including holdings, transactions, and balances — with us to power your Soffia experience.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and verify your identity;
- Deliver and personalise the AI coach experience, including tracking your progress through the curriculum;
- Process subscription payments and manage your billing;
- Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries;
- Improve the platform, curriculum, and AI coach by analysing aggregated and anonymised usage patterns;
- Send you service communications, including transaction confirmations, policy updates, and security notices;
- Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including KYC and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements; and
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and other harmful activity.
We do not use your personal information to train AI models for commercial sale or to serve third-party advertising. We do not sell your data.
How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers: We share information with third-party companies that provide essential services on our behalf, including account custody, payment processing, identity verification, data storage, and AI inference. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may only use it to perform services for us.
- With Altruist Corp: To open and manage your investment account, we share required identity and account information with Altruist Corp as your account custodian.
- As required by law: We may disclose information when required by applicable law, regulation, court order, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Soffia, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a business transfer: If Soffia is acquired, merges with another company, or sells all or substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is subject to a materially different privacy policy.
- With your consent: We may share your information in other ways if you give us specific permission to do so.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform, remember your preferences, and understand how users interact with our content. Our Cookie Policy describes the specific cookies we use, their purpose, and how you can manage your preferences.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.
No system is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@soffia.net.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide our services, and as required to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations (including applicable securities recordkeeping requirements).
If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it for a longer period.
AI coach conversation data is retained to improve the quality and personalisation of coaching within your session. Aggregated and anonymised conversation data may be retained to improve the curriculum.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to our legal and regulatory retention obligations.
- Portability: Request that we provide your personal information in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of sale: We do not sell your personal information, so this right is not applicable. However, you may request confirmation of this at any time.
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and for what purposes, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising their privacy rights.

Children's Privacy
The Soffia platform is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@soffia.net and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email to your registered address and/or by displaying a prominent notice on the platform, at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the platform after any updated Privacy Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
